it's not an old staying place. Its history starts at 1930 s. In 1936, Immigrants from Rumenia, were settled to thevillages bound to center of It. In 1938, the new ones were settled to the center ofimamog-lu by the government. The othe immigrants in Ceyhan and Kozan were collected in imamoglu. Sub-distric Organization were established in June, 07.1959, Municipality organization established in July. 18-1987, seperated from Kozan and became a new county.

Adana, Kozan, Feke, Saimbeyli, Tufanbey-li road passes in it.
There are 19 villages and one of them has got municipality, in 2000, population is 43.361 and 30.428 of them in the center, others in village es and towns. Its square is 380 km². imamoglu under groundcity is here.
