YILANKALE (SNAKE) CASTLE
It is on a hill which rises abruptly from a plain between Misis and Ceyhan.
It was the first of a chain of castles on the Silk Road.
The castle is popularly called Sahmeran Castle.
Popular tradition says that a snake charmer named Seyh Meran used to raise snakes in the castle.

KOZAN CASTLE

This was the fourth castle in the castle chain. It was originally an Assyrian castle called Sis Castle after the name of the city.
The castle was restored after control of the city of Sis changed hands.

ANAVARZA CASTLE

The destiny of the old city of Anavarza was tied to this castle high on a hell. It can only be reached from the west. It has a view of the iskenderun Gulf and other castles.
It is not known for sure when and by whom it was built, although it was probably built in the 9th century B.C. by the Assyrians.
