These houses were built
on the Tepebag mound-in Adana. This settlement within
the walls of Adana preserved its culture for hundreds
of years.
The new city period began with the building of Ramazanoglu
Halil Bey's mansion in 1495.
During this period the Tepebag neighborhood was
founded. It was developed during the new building
period starting with the construction of the Green
Mescit (Mosque) in 1752.
For this reason, most of the houses in the neighborhood
are from the 18th century.
When Inonu Street was opened, neoclassical houses
began to be built. When you come through the wide
double doors off the narrow cobblestone streets
into the courtyard, you experience hundreds of years
of enchanting culture.
The cobblestone streets of Adana have made their
way into the folk songs:
ADANALI
Adana's streets are made of stone You have captivated
me completelyand stolen me from my mother and
brother
Oh man from Adana,
sweetheart from Adana
I'm in love with you dark young man
