ELAZIĞ MUSEUMS
Archeology and Ethnography Museum The first museum in Elazığ has been established in Harput District on April 30th 1965, in Alacalı Mosque, as "Harput Museum". In the following years, this building has become insufficient for the collected works, therefore the museum has been moved to a building on İstasyon Street, which belonged to Elazığ Municipality.

Thereafter, when the exhibition of the works found in the surface researches and excavations carried out in the frame of Keban and Karakaya Dam projects has come to the agenda, the building has become insufficient. An area of 12.700 m2 has been assigned for the museum building in Elazığ State Architecture and Engineering Academy Campus (today's Fırat University Campus) and after the construction of the museum warehouse and administrative buildings, the museum has been opened to visit on July 28th 1982.
Archeology and Ethnography Museum consists of two halls, namely as "Archeological Works and Coin Hall, Carpet, Kilim and Ethnography Hall" and the warehouse part where various works are kept.
In Archeological Works and Coins Hall, several and various works belonging to Paleolithic, Neolithic, Calcolithic, Bronze (Protto Hurri - Hittite), Iron, Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk, Ottoman periods, found during Tülin Tepe, Tepecik Ruin Place, Değirmen Hill, Haraba Tumulus, Norsun Hill, Asyan, Sakyol (Pulur), Ağın Kalaycık Tumulus, Ağın Kalecik Tumulus, Pağnik Ruin Place, Han İbrahim Şah, Şemsiye Hill Yeniköy excavations and the surface researches carried out at Karataş Kayaaltı Shelter, Küllünün İni, Aktaş and Yıkılgan, which were carried out due to Keban and Karakaya Dam Projects.

In Carpet - Kilim and Ethnographic Works Hall, handmade carpets and kilims special to the region and ethnographic works that are introductory for the region are being exhibited. Besides these exhibitions in the museum, the grave stones in ram and horse shapes collected from Tunceli and some stone works belonging to various periods are being exhibited outside the museum, at museum entrance.
