The Toy Museum of the Faculty of Educational Sciences (Ankara University)
The Toy Museum of the Faculty of Educational Sciences was opened on April 20 th, 1990. This is the first, indeed the only toy museum in Turkey. The basic objective of the museum is to protect old toys and do historical and educational research on toys and child culture, at the present, the Museum has about 500 toys which can be classified into four basic categories:
I. Traditional toys
II. Manufactured toys
1. Wooden toys
2. Tin plate toys
3. Paper toys
4. Plastic toys
5. Dolls and soft toys
III. Foreign toys
IV. Antique toys
The oldest Turkish and foreign toys in the museum are about 50 and 100 years old respectively. The museum is trying to determine the historical development of toys in Turkey.
