Bird Species: Pygmy Cormorant (Phalacrocorax pygmeus) (200 pairs), Squacco Heron (Ardeola ralloides) (70 pairs), Glossy Ibis (Plegadis falcinellus) (75 pairs), Spoonbill (Platalea leucorodia) (10 pairs), Gadwall (Anas strepera) (20 pairs), Marbled Duck (Marmaronetta angustirostris) (5 pairs), Red-crested Pochard (Netta rufina) (400 pairs), Ferruginous Duck (Aythya nyroca) (20 pairs), White-headed Duck (Oxyura leucocephala) (20 pairs), Crane (Grus grus) (20 pairs), Avocet (Recurvirostra avosetta) (150 pairs), Collered Pratincole (Glareola pratincola) (50 pairs), Kentish Plover (Charadrius alexandrinus) (100 pairs), Greater Sand Plover (Charadrius leschenaultii), Spur-winged Plover (Hoplopterus spinosus) (20 pairs), Gull-billed Tern (Gelochelidon nilotica) (50 pairs), Little Tern (Sterna albifrons) (100 pairs) and Whiskered Tern (Chlidonias hybridus) (400 pairs) can be mentioned among the important species reproducing within the area. While Ruddy Shelduck (Tadorna ferruginea) (max.2283) prefers the region during summer, huge numbers of Greater Flamingo (Phoenicopterus ruber) (max. 59.150), Crane (Grus grus) (max.1200) and Avocet (Recurvirostra avosetta) (max.2115) uses the area during autumn. There are numerous water birds (max. 12.801) during winter and immigration period.
