Bird Species: It gains important bird areas status with White Pelican (Pelecanus onocrotalus) (100 pairs), Spoonbill (Platalea leucorodia) (50 pairs), Greater Flamingo (Phoenicopterus ruber) (2000 pairs), Red-crested Pochard (Netta rufina) (15 pairs), Great Bustard (Otis tarda), Avocet (Recurvirostra avosetta) (500 pairs), Spur-winged Plover (Hoplopterus spinosus) (10 pairs), Mediterranean Gull (Larus melanocephalus) (500 pairs), Gull-billed Tern (Gelochelidon nilotica) (500 pairs) and Little Tern (Sterna albifrons) (500 pairs) populations. There are huge numbers of water birds (max. 21.861) during winter, White-fronted Goose (Anser albifrons) (max.7200) and Ruddy Shelduck (Tadorna ferruginea) (max. 978) are samples of these.
