Bird
Species: Greater Sand Plover (Charadrius leschenaultii)
is reproducing within the region. Huge numbers of water
birds (max. 76.154), including White-fronted Goose (Anser
albifrons) (max. 14.000), Ruddy Shelduck (Tadorna ferruginea)
(max. 6847) and Teal (Anas crecca) (max. 10.486) winters
in the lake (data before 1989.) Flamingo (max. 5500),
White-headed Duck (Oxyura leucocephala) (max.27) and
Black-winged Stilt (Himantopus himantopus) (max. 1000)
can generally seen in the lake during the period after
reproduction. There are Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos),
Black-winged Stilt (Himantopus himantopus), Avocet (Recurvirostra
avosetta), Kentish Plover (Charadrius alexandrinus)
and Lapwing (Vanellus vanellus) among the other birds
reproducing within the region.
