Bird Species: It gains important bird areas status with Marbled Duck (Marmaronetta angustirostris) (5 pairs), Black Francolin (Francolinus francolinus) (75 pairs), Purple Gallinule (Porphyrio porphyrio), Stone Curlew (Burhinus oedicnemus), Kentish Plover (Charadrius alexandrinus), Spur-winged Plover (Hoplopterus spinosus) and Little Tern (Sterna albifrons) (100 pairs) populations. Most important ones are Greater Flamingo (Phoenicopterus ruber) (max. 9579), Shelduck (Tadorna tadorna) (max. 854), Wigeon (Anas penelope) (max. 13.900), Pochard (Aythya ferina) (max. 16.801), White-headed Duck (Oxyura leucocephala) (max. 978) and Coot (Fulica atra) (maks 46.000), and huge numbers of water birds (max. 85.054) are wintering within the lake.
