MERSIN RUINS
Tarsus-Gözlükule Tumulus

This 300 m long and 22 m high mound, situated to the southeast of the city, is now been planted with trees and used as a park. Archeological excavations have revealed that the site has been a centre of

settlement from the Neolithic times to the early Islamic period. Gözlükule Tumulus played an important role in casting light to the ancient history of not only Tarsus but the whole region.
Objects discovered during the excavations are exhibited at the Adana and Mersin mesuems.
